I’ve actually entertained the idea of doing so in the past! However, ERFOLG (the circle who made the game) very strongly forbids modification of their work, including translations. I would love to make a game I adore more accessible, but I can’t disrespect the makers’ wishes.;;

I saw a post about SnK 5 and gg subs, andt wow. I don’t even.

After 5 episodes they’re still doing crappy translation that can be easily misunderstood by most people. I have a friend who initially thought that Mikasa was being narcissistic on the last screencap because he watched gg subs. 

Previously, I would download all 3 subs version and watch all of them for comparison, but since ep 4 I stopped doing that because it’s hard to stomach it further. I don’t know what the hell they’re doing anymore. 

If you want to understand this show better, or at least read a translation that is faithful in the manga scanlation, do yourself a favor and watch EveTaku subs instead.

I’m not saying that the manga scanlation is flawless, but from years of watching anime you should try listening to the dialogue and even if you’re not fluent with the JP language you’ll faintly realize that the subs by gg and commie doesn’t exactly match what they’re saying most of the time.

what she’s saying is “これで私と離れずに済んだと思って安心してる”

that means “He’s relieved because he thinks he won’t have to be separated from me now”—they’ve got the exact opposite.

english style is one thing but you probably shouldn’t go around making judgments on one group’s accuracy over another if you don’t speak japanese, given that you just told everybody to watch a group whose translator doesn’t even know basic japanese grammar and that 200+ people believed you

But, next time, maybe try looking back through a couple pages in a tag before posting? I’m not claiming to be doing anything earth-shattering by translating screencaps, but it’s still kinda discouraging to see this happen… Especially when the response I get (referring to your tags) is “welcome to the internet lol!!” instead of, say, “my bad” and a correction of the mistake.
